5 ways to feel positive in a difficult situation

We all have to deal with situations that are tricky or difficult, and they can get us down. And if we are not careful, this feeling lasts for hours and days even, turning into a bad mood that steals away joy.

Here are 5 things you can do to fix this:

  1. Re-frame the situation that is bothering you. Did you learn anything? Even if the learning was how to handle the situation better next time.

  2. Accept that life or people will not always be the way you want them to be. This doesn’t mean they are wrong, just different. If you take the judgement away, you will be left in a far better place.

  3. Change the way you talk to yourself about the situation. Self-talk can have a compound effect, and not in a good way. Are your words amplifying the pain and hurt? Change these words to ones that will help you come to peace with it, and move on.

  4. Change your scenery. If possible get outdoors, even if it is the garden, but if possible, go for a walk. Pay attention to the surroundings, listen to the sounds and focus on the colour. Use as many of your senses as possible.

  5. And lastly, remember your power to control your feelings, and you can decide to feel more positive about the situation.
