What is Personal Development?

I was introduced to personal development in my forties by a relative, whilst going through a tough time. Of course, I didn’t know it had a name, or that there were talks and books on it. At the time, it was a tough life lesson, delivered somewhat brutally, and I didn’t enjoy it.

So, what is Personal Development? For me it is becoming a better version of yourself. An investment of time and effort on yourself, with the aim to be better and live life better. A life more like the one you want and being true to yourself.

I found there were bonuses too such as

  • Better relationships

  • Better mental health

  • Teaches good habits to those around me

  • I became a better parent

Since then it has become part of my life, high on my priorities and part of my being. So, although I was late to the party, it is a party I never intent to leave!
