What is Self-Reflection
What is self-reflection?
It is getting to know who you really are, your values, beliefs and your thinking, which is key. You also look at your habits, and recognising which are working for you and which are not.
All this helps us understand why we do what we do.
Self-reflection is a practice. It can be done daily, weekly and even at certain points in your year and life.
At a basic level it is asking yourself questions, for questions lead to answers, and answers lead to clarity.
Why self-reflect?
Well the bottom line is you get to know yourself better, and helps you grow. Part of the process is knowing which of your thoughts you can and should stop ‘thinking’. We have tens of thousands of thoughts daily, many negative, and even more that are repeats of yesterdays. This process is a way of de-cluttering and detoxing the negative, and focusing on the positive thoughts.
Get to know yourself better than anyone else
Think about a friend or member of your family you are really close to. Someone you have known for a period of time. Someone you know really well. Think about when you first met them, the time you have spent to them, the questions you asked in order to get to know them. How you listened to them in their highs and lows, encouraged and gave hope to them. These are things we do to understand and support someone we care for.
Now think …….. have you done the same for yourself?
